BRAIN DEVELOPMENT & LEARNING
3rd biennial conference on: BRAIN DEVELOPMENT & LEARNING:MAKING SENSE OF THE SCIENCE July 16-20, 2010 in Vancouver, BC, Canada Hear cutting-edge research in neuroscience, developmental science, and mental health presented in ways that doctors, nurses, social workers, educators, and all who work directly with children can understand, see the immediate relevance of, and use.
For all those wishing they had more guidance in what research says are best practices.
"For years I have seen people try to bring educators together with health specialists, for either with researchers. I have never seen any effort work as well as what you put together in Vancouver." -- Prof. Michael Meaney, McGill University
Attendees came from 13 countries, 19 US States, and all but one Canadian province. This time we are hoping for attendees from many more places around the world. The more diverse the group of people who attend, the more we will all learn, because the learning goes both ways. The experience and wisdom of the audience adds to what everyone learns and gains from the meeting. And, we would like to be of help to people from every region of the globe.
Our conference provides an opportunity to learn about important scientific discoveries from some of the finest scientists from around the world -- the scientists who made the discoveries. Unlike most other conferences, it is not for scientists and academics to talk to one another. Nor does it "dumb down" the science or have interpreters far removed from the actual research present others’ work -- yet the work is fully understandable to the educated public.
